Reliable Propulsion for Private Pleasure Boats
Baudouin continues to support the leisure marine sector with advanced propulsion solutions tailored for repowering applications.
The 24 x 6 metre private pleasure boat Woody recently underwent a full propulsion upgrade in Corfu, replacing two previous-generation Baudouin 6F11.1 engines with two modern Baudouin 6M21.3 marine propulsion engines.
Selected for their compact design, improved fuel efficiency and enhanced performance characteristics, the 6M21.3 engines deliver 441 kW, or 600 HP, at 2100 rpm per engine under P3 Intermittent Duty rating.
This repowering project ensures compliance with IMO II standards while improving onboard reliability, long-term operational efficiency and overall propulsion performance.
Operating across the Eastern Mediterranean, Woody now benefits from smoother performance, optimized engine response and dependable propulsion suited to private cruising conditions.
The repowering of Woody was carried out by Baudouin’s local partner Xanthis S.A., with particular attention to integration, performance optimization and long-term operational reliability.
Replacing the previous-generation Baudouin 6F11.1 engines with two modern 6M21.3 propulsion units represented a significant technological step forward.
The project also ensured compatibility with the vessel’s existing drivetrain layout, shaft lines and onboard systems.
Precise alignment, recalibration and testing were required to guarantee a smooth transition and optimal propulsion balance.
Each Baudouin 6M21.3 engine delivers 441 kW, or 600 HP, at 2100 rpm under P3 Intermittent Duty rating.
This configuration provides strong and consistent torque output across the operating range.
As a result, the vessel benefits from stable cruising performance at 12 knots, improved acceleration response and enhanced manoeuvrability.
These characteristics are essential for private leisure navigation in the varied operating conditions of the Eastern Mediterranean.
The IMO II-compliant configuration helps reduce emissions while maintaining robust performance and operational efficiency.
The 6M21.3 platform combines compact dimensions with high power density, making it particularly suitable for repowering projects where space constraints and weight distribution must be carefully managed.
Its modern turbocharging system and optimized fuel injection technology improve combustion efficiency, resulting in smoother engine operation and reduced fuel consumption compared with previous-generation engines.
The enhanced thermal management system also supports consistent performance in the high ambient temperatures typical of Mediterranean summers.
Beyond performance gains, the new propulsion system improves onboard reliability and maintenance efficiency.
The engines are engineered with heavy-duty components, reinforced block architecture and simplified service access points, facilitating routine inspections and reducing downtime.
Modern engine monitoring systems also provide improved operational control and diagnostics, giving the vessel owner greater confidence during extended cruising periods.
Through this repowering project, Woody benefits from extended service life, improved fuel economy, regulatory compliance and greater overall propulsion efficiency.
The Woody Rijeka project illustrates Baudouin’s expertise in delivering advanced marine repowering solutions that combine performance, durability and engineering precision.
For private pleasure boat owners, repowering with modern Baudouin marine engines offers a practical way to improve vessel performance, reduce operating costs and extend operational life.
With the support of Xanthis S.A., the project demonstrates how the right engine upgrade can modernize an existing vessel while preserving its core structure and cruising purpose.
