Stage V PowerKit Engines for Rental Applications

Across Europe, the rental power market is entering a new phase.

Temporary power is no longer judged only by availability, robustness or fast deployment. For operators working in cities, infrastructure projects, industrial sites and regulated environments, emissions performance has become just as critical as reliability.

The challenge is clear: deliver the power, responsiveness and durability expected from rental equipment, while complying with EU Stage V NRMM regulations.

This is the context in which Baudouin and Visa S.p.A. developed a new generation of Stage V compliant rental power solutions.

Built around Baudouin’s PowerKit engine platforms, the project was designed to prove that lower-emission power generation can remain powerful, practical and rental-ready.

The collaboration began with the 6M33 Stage V engine, integrated into a compact 650 kVA genset prototype and tested at Visa’s facilities to validate performance, reliability, load response and aftertreatment integration.

More than a technical development, this project reflects Baudouin’s role as an engine partner capable of helping OEMs bring compliant, high-performance solutions to market.

In partnership with Visa, Baudouin turned regulatory change into a practical, high-performance solution for the next generation of rental power.

It then moved into higher power with the 12M33 Stage V platform, reaching 1250 kVA to address more demanding rental applications.

The final milestone was the transition from prototype development to real-world rental deployment. With the first Stage V rental unit entering operation, Baudouin demonstrated that its PowerKit engines are ready not only for regulatory change, but also for the practical realities of the European rental market.

Combining advanced emissions control, strong transient response, HVO compatibility, compact integration and service accessibility, the solution helps rental operators meet today’s environmental expectations without compromising performance.

The project began with a clear objective: validate a Stage V compliant power solution for the rental sector without compromising durability, performance or ease of use.

Baudouin’s 6M33G2D5 Stage V engine was first integrated into a compact 650 kVA genset prototype, enabling both teams to validate load response, emissions compliance, cooling, acoustic performance, service access and aftertreatment integration.

Following this successful first phase, Baudouin and Visa moved to the 12M33 Stage V, reaching 1250 kVA for heavier-duty rental applications.

Designed with a containerized structure, optimized cooling, acoustic insulation and dedicated controls, the unit was developed for demanding European rental operations.

The project then moved from development to real-world deployment with the Onis Visa BD1255CO genset powered by the 12M33G8D5/S Stage V engine.

At the heart of the solution are Baudouin’s 6M33 and 12M33 Stage V PowerKit engines.

These platforms combine high power density with SCR and DOC aftertreatment systems to meet EU Stage V NRMM requirements while maintaining strong performance under variable loads.

Their compact architecture supports easy integration into rental gensets, where space, cooling, transportability, maintenance access and serviceability are critical.

The HVO compatibility of Baudouin M series engines also gives operators an additional path to reduce environmental impact. HVO can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 90% over the full lifecycle, from production through to end use.

The complete solution was designed around rental market needs, including sound attenuation, fuel autonomy, remote monitoring, fast fuel connections, safety systems, handling features and service access.

For rental operators, Baudouin Stage V engines make it possible to provide low-emission temporary power without sacrificing reliability or flexibility.

The solution is well suited to regulated sites, urban areas, construction projects, industrial facilities and critical infrastructure where emissions, noise and uptime are decisive.

By offering Stage V solutions from 125 to 1250 kVA, Baudouin provides OEM partners with a scalable platform for the European rental market, covering both medium-power and high-horsepower temporary power applications.
