Standby Power for Wine Production Operations
Two ONIS VISA generator sets were recently supplied to power La Marca, a major winery located in the Prosecco production area of Northern Italy.
The project required a reliable emergency backup power system to ensure uninterrupted operation of the wine production plant.
For a winery, of this scale, power continuity is critical. A power outage can disrupt machinery, production lines and wider plant processes, creating operational delays and potential losses during key production periods.
To address this need, Visa SpA selected Baudouin PowerKit engines to provide a dependable standby power solution adapted to the customer’s energy requirements.
La Marca is one of Italy’s leading wine companies and a major producer of Prosecco, with more than 85 million bottles produced each year.
The customer required a precise energy solution to protect the winemaking process in the event of a power outage.
The objective was not only to keep individual machines running, but to maintain continuity across the full production plant.
By installing two Baudouin-powered generator sets, the winery now benefits from a standby power system designed to support operational reliability and productivity.
Both generating sets are fitted with Baudouin 12M33G1650/5 engines operating at 1500 rpm.
Each unit delivers 1650 kVA of standby power and is coupled with a Stamford PI734 C alternator, H Class.
The engines are equipped with preheaters to support reliable starting and are integrated into automatic control panels for parallel synchronization between gensets in the event of a mains power failure.

The installation of two Baudouin engines inside two ONIS VISA generator sets provided the right solution to support high performance and reliability.
Each genset is housed in a silent canopy, with a baseframe equipped with a 400-litre onboard fuel tank.
The generators are also equipped with a specific fire detection system to comply with strict Italian safety and prevention regulations. This was a key technical requirement, and the teams focused on designing a solution aligned with the customer’s operational and regulatory needs.
The units are equipped with WebSupervisor, a remote control system that allows the customer to monitor and manage key parameters and warnings in real time.
This system helps identify anomalies, plan prompt interventions and support faster maintenance decisions.
It also allows remote start and stop of the machines, while keeping the system connected with the Visa service department. Visa technicians can remotely connect to the machines to analyze or help solve detected issues.
The successful installation ensures that La Marca’s winemaking processes can continue with standby power if the main feed suffers a failure.
This increases the reliability, efficiency and productivity of the plant.
Visa SpA selected Baudouin engines for their reliability, European quality standards and access to a global service and support network.
For demanding industrial applications such as wine production, this combination provides a dependable and cost-efficient critical power solution.
