Baudouin powering an Atlantic crossing: All Oar Nothing

In 1936, the 13-meter Arielle motorboat crossed the Atlantic with one crew member and one Baudouin DB4 60HP engine.  It took sailor Marin Marie 18 days to cross the ocean, and he earned the Blue Water Medal from the Cruising Club of America for this ‘remarkable sailing feat’.

Tomorrow, Baudouin will power another Atlantic crossing. 

Baudouin, together with our Partner Xanthis, are sponsoring the All OAR Nothing Team in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.  Called the World’s Toughest Row, the Atlantic Challenge will see teams from around the world compete in rowing over 4,800 km from La Gomera island in Spain, to Antigua in the Caribbean. 

Despite the prospect of the harsh environment, sleep deprivation, physical and mental challenges, Lewis Matthews, Charlie Medwin and Chris Slack didn’t hesitate to sign up for this life-changing challenge. Childhood friends, this strong team from the UK are no strangers to pushing yourself to your limits.  The team are accomplished athletes who have competed in many Ironman races, ultramarathons and endurance rows and cycling races. 

But, All OAR Nothing is not just about personal adventure or achievement.  This inspirational team is supporting four worthy charities: EHE Rare Cancer Charity, Right to Play, OneSight and Kidney Cancer UK.  

EHE Rare Cancer Charity supports patients around the world while promoting and funding research into EHE and acting as advocates for greater awareness of the rare cancer.

Right to Play uses the power of play to educate and empower children to overcome the effects of poverty, conflict and disease in disadvantaged communities around the world.   

2.5 Billion people in the world need vision correction but 1.1 billion of these don’t have access to it.  OneSight aims to help those people with quality vision care. 

Kidney Cancer UK seeks to increase awareness and knowledge about kidney cancer by providing patient information and supporting research into the causes, prevention and treatment of the
